A HISTORICAL PALACE IN THE HEART OF VENICE
Cà Bernardo Palace – Venice
The Bernardo’s family was one of the most ancient and noble in Venice and was part of the Maggior Consiglio since 1269. Bernardo Palace was commissioned by Alvise Bernardo in the middle of XV Century. The style of its façade was inspired by the magnificence of the Cà D’Oro Palace, previously built, with the characteristic ornament on the façade corners, the big marble’s disc near the flowers, and the portals, typical of the late Gothic area. The view of this part of Venice is truly privileged, from the Frari’s cathedral tower to the roofs of Campo San Polo’s Palace.
John Ruskin, one of the greatest English art critic, in his “The Stones of Venice” of 1853 writes of Cà Benardo: “…of the finest kind, and superb in its effect of colour when seen from the side … But, taken as a whole, I think that, after the Ducal Palace, this is the noblest effect of all in Venice”.
The visit of this splendid Palace, today Francesco Molon’s showroom, guarantees a truly unique experience in the historical and suggestive Venetian
atmosphere.
MAGNIFICENT GRAND SALONE
Cà Bernardo Palace – Venice
A marvelous fenestration is represented by the XV Century four-light window that, if possible, acquire more splendor when admired from the internal side of the building.
Only here it’s possible to perceive the perfect proportions, the skillfully embossed capitals, the columns of this Quadrifora which represents one of the most beautiful examples of the Gothic style in Venice.
The Francesco Molon furnishings are integrated in natural way in the living room, where several examples of original furniture coexist side by side in perfect harmony with the splendid 18th-century reproduction pieces in Louis XV style, magnificently carved and decorated.
At the entrance stands an imposing 5m long table, inlaid in Charles Boulle manner, where can be Accommodated up to 14 diners.
The room is Truly beautiful especially thanks to the large window who favors the incoming of the famous Venetian light and its magical embrace.Even in the adjoining rooms (the study, the large library and the various lounges and dining rooms) the furnishings are purely of a classic nineteenth-century taste and of excellent workmanship, and blend with the baroque environments of Palazzo Ca Bernardo.
THE CENTRAL STUDIO
Cà Bernardo Palace – Venice
CENTRAL STUDIO is a sort of library-studio with presidential desk and imposing bookcase. n the corners of the studio are exhibited Roman’s Senator massive marble busts, representing the Venetians relationship with the ancient Roman’s culture.A marvelous harmony between the golden fabrics on the walls and the mirrored console in Louis XV style finished with real gold leaf. he ceiling, with its rare Murano’s glass white chandelier, gives emphasis to the room surrounding the atmosphere with a magical touch.
The ceiling is illuminated by a magnificent chandelier of white Murano Rezzonico, here we find the most valuable fresco of the palace, a central medallion depicting “the Expulsion of vices”, a recurring theme in the eighteenth-century iconography. Most probably this fresco is to be ascribed in the production of Jacopo Guarana, an artist from Verona who, drawing inspiration from Tiepolo, had great fortune in Venice, where he worked throughout his life.
MASTER BEDROOM
Cà Bernardo Palace – Venice
The wide side of the palace overlooking the shinning water of Rio San Antonio hosts a master room. In Venice during the XVIII Century, the bedrooms, originally called “alcove”, were divided by wooden elements. Here the concept has a more contemporary interpretation, although Francesco Molon inspires to that age to build his settings. The charming headboard is enriched by refined carvings, lacquered with a pure white finishing and wisely enhanced with gold leaf gildings.
The big mirrors over the dresser and the toilet are original antiques made in the middle of XIX century, in gilded and carved wood. A Murano’s Rezzonico Arlecchino glass chandelier dominates with elegance the centre of the room.
LIBRARY

The gothic style is modernized and refreshed by light lines that raise the attention to the staircase going to the second floor. The walls are covered with refined fabric in the neutral colors of ivory and cream, that perfectly connect with the colors of the fresco on the celling, “The Glory of Venice”.
